In a true testament to New London’s downtown revitalization, a new 137-unit luxury apartment complex has arrived on the corner of Bank and Howard Street, on a formerly vacant lot previously known as Parcel J.
The Docks, developed by A.R. Building Co., offers luxury living in the heart of downtown New London and is slated to officially open for move-in on July 15th. Within the first week, nearly 20 units had already been rented, with things moving quickly, according to Property Manager, Adam Romeo.
As New London’s economy flourishes, A.R. Building Co. has invested more than $150 million in housing developments in the area, including The Docks and three others, calling New London “a community on the rise.”
Governor Ned Lamont and Representative Joe Courtney toured the property back in April as part of a visit praising the economic development of the area, which includes a long list of other projects, such as the State Pier upgrade, the National Coast Guard Museum, the construction of a pedestrian bridge, a community recreation complex and ongoing upgrades to the waterfront.
The Docks offers easy access to the highway and is close to the train station, making it a great option for those who work at nearby General Dynamic/Electric Boat, Yale New Haven Health or the Groton Submarine Base. The complex caters to professionals as well as those looking to downsize or those who just want to live downtown, with easy access to everything the city has to offer. The Docks is within walking distance to several restaurants, shops, art galleries and attractions, including Hygienic Art, The Garde Arts Center, New London Waterfront Park, The Green Room, Hot Rod Café, Muddy Waters, Washington Street Coffee House and more.
The Dock’s standout amenity is undoubtedly its rooftop deck, which offers unbeatable views of the city and the Thames River, but the perks don’t end there. They also boast an onsite fitness center, communal workspace, café with fireplace, an elevator and indoor bicycle storage. Every unit has a washer and dryer, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, high end finishes and more. Select units also offer a private balcony or patio area.
Apartments range from small studios to larger two-bedrooms units and currently rent for between $1,100 – $2,100 per month depending on the size. If you’re interested in living at The Docks, you can visit their website to take a virtual tour or schedule a private in-person one.
